Go West

OUR STORY FROM 2002-2009
In 2004 we started to plan for when the Little Malvern Priory pump priming money would come to an end. We had been 'Highly Commended' in the Worcestershire Community Pride Competition, run a series of talks and tours, including a tour and a talk by Brian Draper of Martley and we wondered if there would be sufficient support to take the project into a second stage.

Malvern Hills District Council sponsored The Go West Pathfinding Forum in Tenbury Wells on February 17th and 18th 2004, it was well attended and very succesful - the outcome - we would seek funding for a second stage!

There followed a period of discussion with several different organisations and finally the decision we applied applied for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for a Stories from the Stones pilot. We were successful and the second stage started on January 1st 2006 Click on Stories from the Stones to see what happened.

By the end of 2007 we had a set of interlocking activities to share with visitors to the Teme Valley .

1. There were Stories from the Stones audio Listening Posts inside 6 Teme Valley Churches: in Cotheridge, Broadwas, Martley, Shelsley Walsh, Stockton-on-Teme and Lindridge.

2. Parish Heritage Walks had been created to take the story out from the church into the parish.

3. All the parishes were linked on a Car Trail - The Food & Heritage Trail that connected Worcester and Tenbury Wells and called in at each of the parishes along the way. The Trail and each of the walks had an accompanying audio CD to bring out the story of the area.

4. The web site had been updated to enable maps and information to be freely available and to see the accompanying CDs

5. The Fellowship of Arthur's Teme Valley Heritage Knights had been set up for families and schools

2008 This was a year to consolidate, to mull over what we had achieved and where we were going, and now we are in 2009 and moving forward. But we also took the Heritage Knights to the tiny parish of Eastham, nr. Tenbury Wells, and made more Heritage Knights
