WHAT ARE HERITAGE QUESTS?

HERITAGE QUESTS
Heritage Quests are designed to be fun; they encourage inquisitiveness and develop imagination. Most Quests follow a theme Special places and buildings; or Faming, harvest and food being the most common. Each Quest starts with an encounter with a Time Traveller on a mission to help Arthur in his Quest to see if there is anything left today that Arthur would recognize from his time. The time traveller enlists the help of the Heritage Detectives, he sends them off on a Quest and gives them a Box of Treasures, bits of information that might help them on their Quest. Each Quest has three stage; preparation, exploration and completion. A site specific Detectives Sheet with instructions and clues is been prepared for each Quest. Heritage Detectives must follow a Quest Trail around the parish spotting the clues, solving the mysteries, discovering more about local history, more about the church and its parish over the centuries. All the time they will be wondering: Could Arthur have seen this.... or this,.... or this? To complete a Quest heritage detectives must make sufficient sense of what they have seen around them on the Quest Trail to be able to make comparisons with what they discover about the past in the Treasures Box. Only then will they be able to work out what, if anything, Arthur might recognize if he were to return today. At the end of each Quest the detectives must complete Arthurs Report Form. In it he urges everyone to think about the future as well as the past. What, he asks, do they want future generations to find out about them and their world ? Everyone who completes a report form qualifies to join the Fellowship of Arthurs Teme Valley Heritage Knights. In this report Arthur asks everyone to look into the future and think about what they want future generations to find out about them and their world. He urges them to be strong and courageous and to fight for what is important to them! |
